Yes, that's the question I pose as I look around Washington DC for a home of my own. I'm in the buying mood, and oddly, not feeling sticker shock just yet. With interest rates and income, I'm able to afford a $400,000 loan. What shocks me is that I can also qualify for a $500,000 mortgage.

No matter I'd rather not trust the bankers or Realtors to guide me in this very major purchase. I ask you, my friends, family, readership, for advice.

If you buy homes, if you sell houses, if you are in the real estate business, drop a line, let me know, lets talk. I want to make sure that when I buy, I know what I am doing.
