Belly Button Window - an American experience - http://www.bellybuttonwindow.com
.Less than 48 hours after closing on my (almost) half-million dollar mortgage, I am in Cairo, Egypt on a Friday. As it's the weekend in Egypt, Friday being Islam's Sunday, a day of prayer, I'm off to see the Sphinx.
Yeah, that Sphinx, the one of riddles since antiquity. The one that glows in your imagination as you read this. The one that looks out on a Cairo suburb. Really, it does! Not 100 years from homes, hotels, and urban life is the half-man, half-cat of Khafre.
Behind our very famous feline friend are the Grand Pyramids, rising along the Giza Plateau, sentries in the Saharan sand. Amongst these giants I walk today, humble at their size, grandeur and human scale.
Join me in my wander, both in my narrative on Belly Button Window and in my Flickr photo pool
You'll be glad you did.
